BrainChild Electronics is proud to announce the launch of PR Ver 2.0, the most significant system upgrade ever introduced for our PR Series paperless recorders. As the second-generation firmware release, PR Ver 2.0 delivers enhanced functionality and a completely new user experience, offering greater flexibility for industrial applications.
The new firmware uses version numbering in the 2.xx format and is fully compatible with all PR units manufactured after 2018. Even existing users can benefit from the latest features through a simple firmware update.
Three Major Innovations in PR Ver 2.0
1. Support for High-Precision AI306_6 Analog Input Module
PR Ver 2.0 now supports the new AI306_6 six-channel high-precision analog input card. This upgrade boosts measurement accuracy from ±1.0°C to an impressive ±0.6°C, meeting the accuracy standards required by AMS2750H for Field Test Instruments in aerospace heat treatment applications. This enhancement is ideal for high-precision temperature uniformity monitoring and demanding thermal processing environments.
Currently, the AI306 is supported on compact models PR10 and PR20, with support for larger PR30 models expected in the future.
2. Built-In Energy Management System (EMS) Interface
PR Ver 2.0 introduces a brand-new Energy Management System (EMS) module. When paired with compatible power converters, the system can import external signals via RS-485 communication. Unlike previous versions that could only display raw voltage or current, PR Ver 2.0 activates the EMS module to calculate and display key energy parameters such as power and electricity usage in real time using built-in mathematical formulas. This helps users perform energy efficiency analysis and equipment performance monitoring.
3. Wireless Integration with XH12 Temperature Data Logger
PR Ver 2.0 now seamlessly integrates with BrainChild’s XH12 Wi-Fi temperature and humidity data logger, enabling real-time temperature monitoring across storage rooms or production facilities. While PR devices do not include built-in Wi-Fi receivers, users can connect to a wireless router via the onboard Ethernet port. The router then collects Wi-Fi signals from all XH12 units.
XH12 supports automatic data retransmission, ensuring no data is lost—even during temporary disconnections. This feature is especially valuable for cold chain monitoring or in combination with the EMS function to evaluate HVAC energy use and performance.
